Below are the results of the aspirin samples i synthesised
I used a 3 decimal place weighing scale when weighing out the materials and chemicals i used this is more accurate than using a 2 decimal place weighing scale, to make the results more accurate i could have used a 4 decimal place weighing scale.
I used a mel-temp apparatus to record the melting points of my synthesised aspirin this is more accuarte than using the human eye to determain a melting point of a large sample, but this method can be subjected to human error as the reading on the thermometer and the exact melting point of the sample can not be determained accurately by eye. to make these results more accurate i could have used a digital mel-temp appartus.
the calculations used to determain the % yield and the mass of aspirin i should have could be subject to human error, by not correctly calculating the numbers.

%yield = weight of aspirin / mass of aspirin i should get x 100
Below are the results of the titrations which i carried out a titration is done as accuratley as possible but the colour change of the substance is not always a reliable answer as this is subject to human preference of what colour the substance has turned, this could be subject to human error
I achieved accurate results throughout my calculations I used 1-2 decimal places to ensure that my answers were accurate. I made sure that in every calculation I did I used 1-2 decimal places or more. I also repeated the titrations until the readings were the same or within 0.1cm3 of each other. Where accuracy was needed in this experiment it was used with one or more decimal places.
